Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, commonly referred to as EMDR, is a protocol-driven treatment method for addressing the consequences of various forms of psychological trauma, including PTSD. EMDR therapy is brief, patient-centered, follows a clearly defined protocol, and is firmly grounded in scientific research. Therefore, EMDR is one of the most widely utilized approaches for treating psychological trauma and is often the primary choice in accordance with most international treatment guidelines, including those of the World Health Organization (WHO) (A. de Jongh & E. ten Broeke).
