Relationship and Family System Therapy
Systemic therapy, often recognized as (couple) relationship therapy or family therapy, is a form of therapy that shifts the focus away from the individual and onto the interconnected dynamics between individuals - the system.
In systemic conversations, the goal is to break free from entrenched patterns of interaction and explore the meaning attributed to each other's behaviors. It involves recognizing, understanding, tolerating, and adjusting to differences. This can be a challenging task, as each person tends to view their own actions as the most logical and often wishes to change the other instead of themselves. This form of therapy aims to make the positive forces within the system more accessible and does not seek to uncover causes, assign blame, or find fault.
